Kellie Harrington’s community ready for their ‘golden girl’s’ homecoming

All throughout lockdown, the residents of Doonsalla estate in south Dublin could hear the thump and whack of a punch bag, day and night.

The gyms may have been closed, but Kellie Harrington wasn’t taking any breaks. The 31-year-old Olympic medallist lives on the Cabinteely estate with her partner of more than 10 years, Mandy Loughlin.

And neighbours have seen – and heard – first-hand just how much work goes into getting to the top of your sport. ‘She’s out at 7am sprinting up and down the street,’ Kellie’s neighbour Therese Dolan, who lives two doors down, told the Irish Mail on Sunday. ‘Then you’d see her going for long runs, too.
