Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson (born October 25, 1984), known professionally as Katy Perry, is an American singer, songwriter, and television judge. After singing in church during her childhood, she pursued a career in gospel music as a teenager.

Perry signed with Red Hill Records and released her debut studio album Katy Hudson under her birth name in 2001, which was commercially unsuccessful. She moved to Los Angeles the following year to venture into secular music after Red Hill ceased operations and she subsequently began working with producers Glen Ballard, Dr. Luke, and Max Martin.

After adopting the stage name Katy Perry and being dropped by The Island Def Jam Music Group and Columbia Records, she signed a recording contract with Capitol Records in April 2007.

Netflix‘s “Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” which stars Evan Peters, the song has faced backlash for referencing the infamous serial killer, according to Indy100.The lyrics, which appear midway through the track, are “She’s a beast/ I call her Karma/ She eats your heart like Jeffrey Dahmer,” and were rapped by featured artist Juicy J. “It still upsets me when I hear the line in the song ‘Dark Horse’ ‘She eats your heart out like Jeffrey Dahmer’ and I always make my daughter turn the station,” wrote one angry Twitter user. “It’s so disrespectful to the victims families,” the person continued. “I hope people remember them while watching Netflix.

Sorry for their losses.”“I didn’t know who Jeffrey Dahmer was until last week,” said another user. “But now knowing what he did, Juicy J is sick for making people especially little kids sing that man’s name and Katy Perry is also sick for allowing that lyric in her song.”One user demanded that the “Teenage Dream” singer make a public apology. “Why isn’t anyone calling out Katy Perry for allowing such a vile & terrible lyric to be included in one of her hit songs,” exclaimed one Twitter user. “Jeffrey was a notorious serial killer & Katy CHOSE to romanticize his criminal & inhumane actions.
