Katie Holmes has paid tribute to a former Dawson's Creek co-star following his unexpected death. The 45-year-old film and television actress was deeply moved by the news of Obi Ndefo's passing earlier this week and expressed her sorrow on social media by reposting an image originally shared by Mary-Margaret Humes, 70, another Creek alumni.

"He was wonderful to work with and such a kind man," Katie wrote next to the picture she shared. "I send prayers and grace to his family - rest in peace," adding a red heart emoji to her message.
Obi was renowned for his role in Dawson's Creek, playing the brother-in-law of Katie's character Joey Potter from 1998 to 2002.
After news of his death was released, his other co-stars also paid tribute to the late actor, including James Van Der Beek (who played Dawson Leery) and Joshua Jackson (Pacey Witter), who referred to Obi as a "dear friend".The official announcement of Obi's death came through a heartfelt Facebook post by his sister Nkem on Saturday (August 31).
