Kate Winslet never felt like she belonged in Hollywood despite Titanic fame

Kate Winslet says she never felt like she belonged in the world of Hollywood. And even after starring in the hugely successful Titanic alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, she'd struggle to get through the door at auditions.

Looking back on the early days of her career, the 45-year-old Oscar winner said she was "the overweight girl who would always be at the end of the line".

Kate opened up as she took part in a panel discussion with Michelle Pfeiffer, Rashida Jones, Vanessa Kirby and Andra Day for the Los Angeles Times.

Talking about landing her role in James Cameron's Titanic in 1997, she said: "I was playing an American for the first time. And working with Leo, who I’d seen in [What’s Eating] Gilbert Grape and Basketball Diaries.
