The Princess of Wales will not be present at the rehearsal for Trooping the Colour next weekend due to her ongoing cancer treatment, it has been confirmed.Traditionally, as Colonel of the Irish Guards, Kate would have taken the salute at the Colonel's Review, the customary rehearsal ahead of Trooping the Colour, on June 8.
However, the mum-of-three, who is expected to resume official duties only after receiving the all-clear from doctors post her cancer treatment, will be replaced by Lieutenant General James Bucknall, KCB, CBE.Lieutenant General James Bucknall, the former Commander of the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps, has attended every King's Birthday Parade since his appointment as Colonel of the Coldstream Guards in 2009, having served as a Coldstream Guards Officer for over 45 years.Kate's schedule has been completely cleared for this year while she undergoes preventative chemotherapy treatment, following her diagnosis with the disease in February after abdominal surgery, the Mirror reports.The princess, 42, has not been confirmed as attending the main Trooping event for the King's birthday on June 15, although palace sources have previously suggested that the future queen may decide to attend some future royal events if she was well and able at the time.
In March, prior to the revelation of Kate's cancer diagnosis, the Army had to retract a statement that Kate would appear at the Colonel's Review on June 8.
