Kate Middleton has paid tribute to Princess Diana with her choice of accessories at Trooping the Colour. The Princess of Wales wore dazzling sapphire earrings that once belonged to her late mother-in-law.The 41-year-old wowed in a striking green outfit, with a dress designed by Andrew Gn and a matching hat by Philip Treacy.

It is believed that the Princess chose the green outfit to pay homage to her role as Colonel of the Irish Guards. Kate also accessorised with the Irish Guards Shamrock Brooch which includes a single emerald placed at the centre of the shamrock. To match the blue jewels and embellishments on her dress, Kate also wore the sapphire drop earrings.

The drop earrings feature two blue sapphires, each of which is encircled by a diamond halo. Diana was documented wearing the exact earrings on multiple occasions, including to the 1996 Met Gala.

Kate waved to onlookers as she travelled down the Mall in a horse drawn carriage alongside her children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
