They may be the most photographed family in the world, but many members of the British monarchy also display passion and talent on the other side of the camera.The Princess of Wales is the most acclaimed royal snapper of all, having become known for sharing beautiful, close-up pictures of her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Kate first began publishing pictures of the youngsters in 2014, and has since made a habit of releasing images on birthdays and occasions like first days at school, changing the way in which the royal family present their lives to the outside world. “One of the great advantages of Kate being a keen amateur photographer is the unique access she gets within the family,” says royal author Duncan Larcombe. “Her photographs are not like the stuffy royal portraits of old, but intimate pictures of her loved ones which we can all relate to.
It’s a very clever move from a PR point of view, because by becoming the photographer, Kate can choose what we all see.” Royal photographer Samir Hussein has been taking pictures of the family for years.
He says, “It’s really smart of Kate and William to provide images of their children in this way, because it satisfies the huge public interest in their lives, while allowing them the privacy they need. “What we get with Kate taking the pictures compared to an outside photographer is a real sense of intimacy.
