He's been in intensive care for weeks, and even though he's now free of the COVID-19 virus, Kate says it has wreaked havoc on his body.
There's new hope now that Derek has opened his eyes and emerged from his deeper coma into a minimum state of consciousness. But Kate, who shares kids Darcey and Billy with Derek, says doctors warned her on a number of occasions that he wasn't going to make it.
