Kate Garraway admits being nominated for a National Television Award for her documentary focussing on her husband Derek's long-term effects of Covid is 'bittersweet'.

The Good Morning Britain presenter is a contender to pick up the award for best-authored documentary, after picking up the last year.

Kate, 55, is nominated for her documentary Caring For Derek which looks at how her family adapted to needing to care for Derek and how the virus has changed their lives, reports the Mirror.Caring For Derek is nominated alongside Katie Price: What Harvey Did Next, Tom Parker: Inside My Head, Julia Bradbury: Breast Cancer and Me, and Paddy and Christine McGuinness: Our Family and Autism.

Kate took home the award last year for her documentary Finding Derek, which focussed on her husband, former political adviser Derek Draper, spent a year in hospital being treated for coronavirus.Reflecting on how she felt to be nominated, she told the PA news agency on the red carpet: "It's bittersweet, because you wouldn't really want to be in a position to be making that documentary because it wouldn't be a situation that you would choose. "However, there were many nights when we feared Derek will be taken from us completely.
