The 53-year-old Good Morning Britain presenter shared the good news that Derek had come out of his Covid-19 induced coma, after 98 days in hospital, but his recovery will still take months from now.
Kate has been desperate for an improvement in Derek's condition and has said that she has spent the time he has been hospital just waiting for a phone call from the doctors.
She told Hello! magazine: “I have been living at the end of the phone 24/7, waiting for news of Derek. "But the doctors have warned that his condition could persist for years so I have to get on with life while we are waiting
