Kate Garraway has made a heartbreaking admission on the one year anniversary of her husband Derek Draper’s death.The Good Morning Britain star lost her husband, with whom she shares two children, last year when Derek died at the age of 56 after he became seriously ill with Covid-19 in March 2020.
During Friday, 3 January’s episode of GMB, Kate, 57, challenged Health Secretary Wes Streeting on the reasons why proposals to the long-term funding of adult social care in England aren’t likely to be delivered before 2028.
As part of the discussion, the broadcaster spoke about her own experience funding care for Derek, revealing that it had left her with “excessive unpayable debt” as a result. “I’m going to be honest, in my mind I’m thinking about the situation of Derek.
It actually happens to be the anniversary of his death, the one year anniversary of his death today, but that’s a day that’s only relevant to me.
