Kate Ferdinand has opened up on what it’s like for her on Mother’s Day in the wake of her step-children having lost their mum.
Kate, 30, celebrated her first Mother’s Day last year after welcoming son Cree in December 2020. Prior to becoming a biological mum, however, Kate had been acting as a step-mother to Rio Ferdinand’s three kids; Tate, 13, Lorenz, 15, and Tia, ten.
Rio, 43, shared his children with his late wife Rebecca Ellison, who passed away in 2015 from breast cancer. Rio has also sadly lost his mother, Janice, to cancer.
She died in 2017 aged 58. With Rebecca and Janice’s deaths in mind, Kate admitted that Mother’s Day is difficult in their household and revealed that she can feel “alone and isolated”.
