Kate Ferdinand fans joke Rio's on 'husband duties' after she details what she 'loves most' about him

Kate Ferdinand was a proud wife as her husband Rio Ferdinand was awarded an Honorary Doctorate. The former Manchester United footballer was given the honour from London South Bank University on Thursday in recognition for his work on addressing inequality, racism, and the stigma around mental health with his foundation.

Kate took to Instagram to share a photo of her other half getting ready to collect his Honorary Doctorate, donning a blue robe and black cap over his grey suit. "So proud of my husband," former TOWIE star Kate began her post to her 1.4m followers. "It’s been such an emotional morning, Rio was recognised by @lsbu with an Honorary Doctorate for all of his work In the community: from @rioferdinandfoundation to his help in tackling inequality, racism & the stigma around mental health." She continued: "Your achievements in football are out of this world but what I love about you most is what you do to help others.

So proud, & forever will be." She ended the post with: "Dr Ferdy," before pundit Rio was quick to make a joke at his own expense. "It’s world book day babe!!!" he added in the comments much to fans' amusement.

But Kate was every inch the proud wife as she shared a photo of her and Rio cosying up before giving a closer look at her outfit for their special occasion.
