The 37-year-old played under Rodgers at Leicester, winning the FA Cup having previously lifted the Premier League title with the Foxes with Claudio Ranieri at the helm in 2016.Now he's eager for a new challenge in the twilight of his career and the chance to win trophies and play Champions League football with the Hoops is proving a tempting one.
Currently, Scott Bain is the champions' first choice keeper after Joe Hart hung up his gloves following the Scottish Cup Final win over Rangers and the search has been on since he announced his retirement earlier this year.
Benjamin Siegrist is well out of the picture and Schmeichel has emerged as the most likely man to fill the void between the sticks.Celtic have also been linked with Newcastle United's Martin Dubravka, and Record Sport exclusively revealed that they were set to go back in for Peter Vindahl jensen of Sparta Prague.
