Karla Sofia Gascon Says She's Stepping Out of Spotlight for Sake of 'Emilia Perez' Co-Stars & Crew Amid Controversy

Karla Sofia Gascon has announced she will no longer be speaking out amid all of the controversy surrounding her and her past tweets.

The 52-year-old Oscar-nominated actress just took to Instagram on Thursday night (February 6) to share a final message, as she hopes to remain silent for the sake of awards chances for the rest of the cast and crew of Emilia Perez. Keep reading to find out more… “Following Jacques interview that I understand, I decided, for the film, for Jacques, for the cast, for the incredible crew who deserves it, for the beautiful adventure we all had together, to let the work talk for itself, hoping my silence will allow the film to be appreciated for what it is, a beautiful ode to love and difference,” Karla captioned a photo from the Cannes Film Festival last year.

She added, “I sincerely apologize to everyone who has been hurt along the way. ♥️” If you missed it, earlier this week an interview with the film’s director Jacques Audiard was released, where he reacted to the controversy and said he has not talked to Karla since, and he doesn’t want to.

Her co-star Zoe Saldana also just recently spoke out once again, and reacted to a claim Karla made. Karla‘s statement comes as it was revealed she would be skipping Spain’s Goya Awards this weekend, and after it was revealed that Netflix is no longer paying for her accommodations to attend pre-Oscar events.
