Manchester City progressed comfortably to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup thanks to a 3-0 victory over Bristol City. The Blues had the advantage on seven minutes when neat build-up play by Riyad Mahrez allowed Kevin De Bruyne to flash a cross, across the face of the goal for Phil Foden to tap home.
Bristol City battled valiantly in the hour that followed but went 2-0 down on 74 minutes. An exquisite ball by De Bruyne found Nathan Ake, he eventually worked it back to Julian Alvarez who picked out Foden to fire home the second.
The match was over as a contest but De Bruyne added gloss to the scoreline when he fired home from outside the area to secure the victory. The former Leeds United man was handed a rare start at Ashton Gate and did not disappoint Pep Guardiola. With a bit of luck, Kalvin Phillips would have given City the lead with the first effort of the game but his strike hit the woodwork.
