Justin Timberlake said “no disrespect” before singing Cry Me a River live on stage - in an apparent reference to his ex Britney Spears' new memoir.
The 42 year old singer, formerly a member of boyband NSYNC, reportedly made the comment before launching into his hit song at Fontainebleau in Las Vegas this week. The track caused a stir when it was released in 2002 - eight months after Justin and Britney split - as it implied that she had been unfaithful to him when they were together.
Lyrics in the song included: "You don't have to say, what you did, I already know, I found out from him.” And further fuelled was added to fire when a Britney lookalike was cast in the music video for the song.
But, with his two-word “no disrespect” comment, Justin appeared to be attempting to put any ill feeling behind them - especially with their past being brought up again recently in Britney’s memoir The Woman in Me, which was published at the end of October.
