A Just Stop Oil activist told a jury how the group planned to create a ‘sensation’ by breaking into Manchester Airport as part of a protest.

Daniel Knorr, 22; Leonorah Ward, 22; Indigo Rumbelow, 30; Margaret Reid, 54; and Noah Crane, 19, all deny conspiring to intentionally cause a public nuisance on August 5 last year.

Four of the group were stopped as they made their way to the airport from an Airbnb property in Gatley, Stockport, in the early hours.

They had angle grinders, bolt cutters, superglue, sand and banners with slogans, Minshull Street Crown Court has heard. As the trial entered a second week, Daniel Knorr was the first of the defendants to give evidence in his defence before the jury.
