Jury finds man guilty of trying to break into neighbour's home in Shotts

A man was caught on CCTV as he tried to break into his neighbour’s home in Shotts.Paul O’Neill was identified by the two-tone jumper he was wearing, Hamilton Sheriff Court heard last week.O’Neill, 40, denied attempted housebreaking in Inverkip Drive on May 13 last year, but a jury found him guilty.

He was cleared of stealing a £50 spade from the same location.O’Neill lodged a special defence of alibi and his lawyer, Bobby Reid, challenged the quality of the CCTV footage.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
