Jurors have retired to consider their verdicts in the trial of a man accused of murdering his girlfriend in a city centre apartment block.

Kevin Mannion, 45, is alleged to have killed his 22-year-old partner Elinor O'Brien, following an incident at his flat in the Great Northern Tower on Watson Street, Manchester.

He denies murder and is standing trial at Liverpool Crown Court. Prosecutors allege that Mr Mannion stabbed Ms O'Brien after an argument.

He has denied being responsible for the fatal stab wound and said he found Ms O'Brien injured. "I don't know what happened," he told a jury.
