Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool cannot win in the “theatre” of the transfer market but that will not impact on their title defence.
The Reds boss was in relaxed mood when discussing his side’s approach to the new season, pointing out they are damned if they do not spend money and damned if they do.
There has been some vocal criticism from a section of Reds fans, worried that rivals such as Manchester City and Chelsea have splashed the cash in their pursuit of a Klopp side which has spent only £11million this summer.
But he said: “That is always the same. "I have been here for five seasons and I don’t think you were ever happy with our transfer business. “Probably the only year [it wasn't] was when we brought in Virgil [van Dijk] and Alisson.
