Judi Dench Suggests She's Retired From Acting Due to Worsening Eyesight

Judi Dench is suggesting that she may have already retired. The 89-year-old actress seemingly suggested she has retired from acting because of her worsening eyesight, via The Guardian.

While attending the Chelsea flower show, Judi was asked if she had plans for future roles, to which she said: “No, no, I can’t even see!” Keep reading to find out more… Judi continued by saying she did have other projects in the pipeline, saying: “Our book has come out [Shakespeare: The Man Who Pays the Rent], we’re going to Cheltenham book fair and then I’m going to do three shows with Gyles Brandreth.” Representatives for the star have indicated there is nothing further to add, via The Guardian. Judi has age-related macular degeneration, causing worsening eyesight, and has been open about her diminishing vision. “I mean I can’t see on a film set any more.

And I can’t see to read. So I can’t see much. But you know you just deal with it. Get on. It’s difficult for me if I have any length of a part.

I haven’t yet found a way. Because I have so many friends who will teach me the script. But I have a photographic memory,” she said last year.
