Jude Bellingham was convinced to snub Manchester United after Borussia Dortmund laid out a compelling roadmap for him to play regular club and international football.
Bellingham left boyhood club Birmingham City to join the Bundesliga giants for £20million last summer, making him the most-expensive 17-year-old in history.
The central midfielder had been heavily linked with United earlier in 2020 and even had a meeting with Sir Alex Ferguson during a tour of the club's Carrington base.
