Joshua Hartnett Shares 'Unhelpful' Advice He Got From Matt Damon on Set of 'Oppenheimer'

Josh Hartnett said that he got “a lot of good advice” from Matt Damon on the set of Oppenheimer.

However, some of his wisdom was not that helpful. The duo shared the screen in the 2023 blockbuster, and they got so close that Josh has taken to calling Matt by the nickname “Uncle Matt.” During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the actor revealed one piece of advice he got from Matt that was “just so unhelpful.” Keep reading to find out more… “He told me not to gain the weight I’d already gained for the role,” Josh recalled to Jimmy Fallon.

However, it was too late for that to be helpful. “I gained about 30 pounds for the role, and he was like, ‘You’re never gonna get that off again, man.’” Josh said that Matt won’t gain weight for a role over the age of 40. “He’s like, ‘You’re gonna spend the rest of your life trying to get that weight off and it’s never gonna come off because your body’s gonna want to get that weight back on.
