Conor Benn has called out Josh Taylor, threatening to inflict a “third” defeat of the Scots fighters career.Taylor suffered his first official loss in New York last week after he was outfought by Teofimo Lopez at Madison Square Garden, with the Brooklyn native taking the Edinburgh man’s WBO Super Lightweight belt off him in a unanimous decision.

There’s now talk that Taylor will move up in weight to 147, although he may have to bide his time for any more world title fights.Benn could be an option though, as the son of former British boxing star Nigel took to social media in order to ant Taylor not to “play” with him.

Benn’s reference to a third defeat was a dig over Taylor’s controversial points decision against Jack Catterall last year. The Tartan Tornado won despite many believing Catterall had done more than enough to come out on top.

Demands for a rematch fell on deaf ears, although the chances may now have increased after the defeat by Lopez. But it seems Benn is first in line.
