Josh Groban is giving an eerie performance on Broadway as the title character in Sweeney Todd and he joined the cast to perform the opening number at the 2023 Tony Awards!
The 42-year-old actor was joined on stage by Ruthie Ann Miles, Gaten Matarazzo, Jordan Fisher, and more on Sunday night (June 11) at the United Palace Theatre in New York City’s Washington Heights.
The cast gave a great introduction to the musical for any new audiences by performing “The Ballad of Sweeney Todd,” which is the prologue to the show and sets the story. Josh was nominated for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical while Ruthie Ann was up for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical.
