Most of the buildings in Seagoville don’t have air conditioning for the inmates,” a Seagoville inmate’s loved one told the Sun on Wednesday about the all-male prison.

Last week, temperatures in Seagoville were in the 90s and even topped 100 degrees. There is currently an excessive heat warning in effect in the area until Thursday evening.

A spokesperson for Seagoville confirmed to the Sun: “It is true that FCI Seagoville has some housing units without A/C. We do have some with it.”“In the units without A/C, there are rooms within those units where inmates can sit in A/C, as we have TV and computer rooms that give them a chance to cool down,” the representative claimed. “Additionally in those housing units, we have fans to circulate the air.
