Jose Mourinho wants to sign Manchester City midfielder Mateo Kovacic this summer. That's according to reports from Turkish newspaper Fotomac as the former Manchester United manager attempts to improve his Fenerbahce squad after touching down in their dugout last month.
Kovacic, 30, only pitched up at the Etihad Stadium from Chelsea last summer as a replacement for Ilkay Gundogan and he became a key player for Pep Guardiola's star-studded Premier League champions.
However, a potential exit route has emerged for the 104-cap Croatia international. Mourinho, who also managed Chelsea (twice) and Tottenham during memorable spells in the English top-flight, is said to admire Kovacic and Fotomac underline Fenerbahce's need to strengthen in midfield.
He does, though, have three years to run on his City contract. ALSO READ: Guardiola told he must sell two City stars ALSO READ: Savinho has already made £21m statement Kovacic made 46 appearances in all competitions for City last season.
