Jordan Chiles has been stripped of the bronze medal that she just won in the women’s floor final at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The International Gymnastics Federation confirmed Romania’s Ana Barbosu has been upped from fourth to third place because of a ruling made by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, via BBC.
The Romanian Olympic Committee had appealed an inquiry submitted by the US team about Jordan‘s score, which fell outside the 1 minute limit for appeals. Keep reading to find out more… Jordan‘s original score was reinstated, which pushed the 23-year-old Olympian back into fifth place.
If you didn’t know, Jordan scored 13.666 during her final, originally putting her in fifth place. Ana Barbosu scored 13.7, which made her believe she won bronze. Jordan‘s coach Cecile Landi made an inquiry regarding her difficulty rating, and officials raised Jordan‘s score to 13.766, placing her third. Ana was already celebrating her medal, and became upset, leading to a protest from the Romanian team.
