Jordan Chiles has broken her silence after being officially stripped of her bronze medal, which she originally won during the 2024 Olympics during the women’s gymnastics floor competition.
News broke this past weekend that her bronze medal would be taken from her and awarded to Romania’s Ana Barbosu.
The International Gymnastics Federation confirmed all of this after a ruling made by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The Romanian Olympic Committee had appealed an inquiry submitted by the US team about Jordan‘s score, which allegedly fell outside the 1 minute limit for appeals. Jordan‘s original score was reinstated, which gives her a fifth place finish instead of the original third place finish.
If you didn’t know, Jordan scored 13.666 during her final, originally putting her in fifth place. Ana Barbosu scored 13.7, which made her believe she won bronze. Jordan‘s coach Cecile Landi made an inquiry regarding her difficulty rating, and officials raised Jordan‘s score to 13.766, placing her third.
