The 57-year-old actor is suing The Sun’s publisher News Group Newspapers (NGN) over an April 2018 column by the paper’s executive editor Dan Wootton referring him to as a ‘wife beater’.
The libel case is currently underway and on day six of the trial the court heard text messages criticising Heard that had allegedly been sent by Depp to his doctor, following an incident in Australia that resulted in the top of his middle finger being severed off.In the messages, the Pirates of the Caribbean star calls Heard an ‘evil and vindictive c***’, while accusing her of only being with him for ‘success and fame’.
