Johnny Depp admitted to cutting off own fingertip in unearthed texts to doctor, court hears

Johnny Depp told his doctor that he severed the tip of his finger himself, in unearthed texts revealed in court. The 56-year-old actor has repeatedly claimed that his ex-wife Amber heard caused his finger to be cut off when she threw a glass vodka bottle at him, before putting out a cigarette on his cheek during an argument.

Heard alleges that Depp cut off his own finger in a drug and alcohol fuelled rage. During a preliminary hearing in Depp’s case against The Sun, texts between Depp and his doctor David Kipper from 2015 were read out, in which he wrote ‘I have chopped off my left middle finger’.
