Johnny Brown was an actor and comedian best known for his starring role in “Good Times,” playing building superintendent Nathan Bookman.Brown got his start doing comedy, including winning an amateur night at the Apollo Theater.

He worked on Broadway and had a recording career with songs including “Walkin’, Talkin’, Kissin’ Doll” before getting his break on TV.

Brown’s first notable role was as a regular cast member on “Laugh-In.” He made appearances on TV shows including “Night Gallery” and “Chico and the Man,” as well as playing a small role in “The Wiz,” before getting his starring role on “Good Times.” After joining the cast in the second season in a recurring role, Bookman – called “Buffalo Butt” or “Booger” by other characters – became a main character in the show’s final two seasons.

Brown went on to do voice work for the cartoons “Plastic Man” and “Alvin and the Chipmunks” as well as guest starring on many TV shows, including “Moonlighting,” “Martin,” “Family Matters,” “The Parent ‘Hood,” and “Kenan & Kel.” He also appeared in such movies as “Life” and “Man in the Mirror.”Such loving memories of our time together.
