Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be hoping to get some of the Nathan Patterson transfer fee to reinvest in his Rangers squad this month.
And he has already been quick to recruit with American international James Sands arriving at Ibrox, albeit on an initial 18-month loan.
But with a £23 million loss announced in the club’s annual accounts then it’s safe to say some of the cash will have to be banked.Van Bronckhhorst won’t want to lose any key men and that was the beauty of the Patterson sale - losing a player that doesn’t immediately weaken the starting XI.However, with the help of sporting director Ross Wilson, there is no doubt the club will still want to free up more funds to add to the squad. That might not come from big fees such as the cash Everton paid for Patterson but from moving fringe men on to free up wages. Is there money going into the pockets of current squad members that could be better spent elsewhere?
Of course there is - like in all squads. Here, Record Sport looks at those who might find themselves surplus to requirements and the two who top the list are the only two who arrived in the summer.
