Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage (born March 5, 1963), better known by his stage name Joe Exotic, is an American former zoo operator, internet personality, musician, and convicted felon. The former owner and operator of the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park (a.k.a. G. W. Zoo) in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, Maldonado-Passage had claimed to be the most prolific breeder of tigers in the United States. He twice unsuccessfully ran for public office, first for President of the United States in 2016 as an independent, and then for Governor of Oklahoma in 2018 as a Libertarian.
Carole Baskin
Carole Baskin (born June 6, 1961) is an American animal rights activist and owner of Big Cat Rescue, a non-profit animal sanctuary based near Tampa, Florida. Baskin drew public attention when she was featured in the 2020 Netflix documentary series Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness about Oklahoma-based private zoo operator known as Joe Exotic. The Netflix series follows both Baskin and Joe Exotic, filming their ongoing and escalating feuds over exotic animals in private zoos. Following the series' release, Baskin has been targeted by Internet memes related to the disappearance of Don Lewis, her second husband.

‘Joe Exotic’ series with Kate McKinnon adds John Cameron Mitchell as the Tiger King

Joe Exotic.The upcoming show, which is one of a number of projects in the works in the wake of Netflix documentary series Tiger King‘s success, is also set to star Kate McKinnon as Carole Baskin.Mitchell, who is perhaps best known for co-creating Hedwig and the Angry Inch, will play the infamous zookeeper Joe ‘Exotic’ Schreibvogel in the series as he loses himself in his hatred for rival Baskin.The show itself is based on the Wondery Podcast of the same name, and is set to air across NBC, Peacock and USA Network.“I’m thrilled to take on the role of this modern folk antihero,” the actor said (via Variety). “Joe and I are the same age and like him, I grew up queer in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas so I feel like I know a little bit about this guy.
