Joe Biden lauds US relationship with UK but is expected to warn PM over Northern Ireland

Sign up to FREE email alerts from the Northern Agenda Joe Biden tonight described the US-UK alliance as the "strongest military and political alliance in the history of the world" as he touched down in Britain on his first overseas trip as US president.

However those close to the President have issued a warning to the British government over the Northern Ireland protocol. Mr Biden flew in to the UK on Air Force One earlier, landing at the US airbase at RAF Mildenhall before heading on to Cornwall for the G7 summit He will meet Boris Johnson in Cornwall on Thursday ahead of the summit and is expected to deliver a warning not to let the Brexit trade dispute “imperil” the Northern Ireland peace process.
