JK Rowling’s golden handprints in Edinburgh were vandalised with red paint and a trans pride flag in the wake of her controversial comments about transgender people.The Harry Potter author was recently accused of transphobia for her tweets over the last month, arguing that same-sex attraction was ‘erased’ if ‘sex isn’t real’.She also liked a tweet opposing a ban on conversion therapy.Her golden handprints are engraved on the grounds outside the City Chambers and had been covered with red paint with the flag placed by it.The blue, pink and white flag was placed by the concrete prints, which were produced when Rowling was awarded the Edinburgh Award in 2008.
