The late 39th President’s casket arrived in Washington D.C. on Tuesday (January 6), followed by a procession to the U.S. Capitol, the Rotunda service and the start of the lying in state.
The national day of mourning began on Thursday (January 9) as U.S. officials, loved ones and members of the public say their final goodbyes to Jimmy Carter, who will be buried beside his wife of 77 years, Rosalynn Carter, at the home they built in Plains, Georgia.
He will be honored with two funeral services: one in Washington, D.C., and one in his small hometown. Several news networks will be covering the Washington, D.C.
