He's flirted with the idea of buying Rangers more than once before. So when a video emerged over the weekend in which Jim McColl appeared to hint at a possible future buy-out of the Ibrox club it was difficult to tell just how seriously he wanted his words to be taken.
Now, in an exclusive interview with the Scottish entrepreneur has added some meat to the bones by confirming he has indeed been approached by other potential investors who are keen to pump cash into British football.
While McColl is keen to stress the plan has been placed on hold while the world attempts to cope with the enormous financial consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, the 68-year-old says it could be picked up again in what he describes as the “medium term”.
