New Aberdeen manager Jim Goodwin says he'll hold talks with captain Scott Brown next week amid speculation on his future. The former Celtic hero is currently out with a hamstring injury but is a target for St Mirren as they search for Goodwin's replacement in Paisley having spent this season coaching under the departed Stephen Glass.

Goodwin hasn't had enough time to talk it through with the midfielder but after his first game in charge - a 1-1 draw with Motherwell - he says he'll know the situation when he catches up with Brown, 36, at training on Monday.Speaking to BBC Sportsound, he said: “I had a good conversation with Scott last night.“We never discussed anything about his next steps but I will be talking to Scott face-to-face on Monday at the training ground.“We’ll have an honest and frank conversation and if Scott is offered the position at St Mirren and he tells me it’s too good to turn down then we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. “But right now I’m planning for Scott Brown being an Aberdeen player between now and the end of the season, and he’s contracted for next season as well. “These are conversations we have to have with everybody.

I’m only just in the door, I haven’t had time to dig into all the other little bits that are going on.“It’s been a manic 48 hours for me and the players, the uncertainty is very unsettling.“It’s a point on the board and we’ll look at the positives but we’ve got a lot to improve on.”
