Writing in his column for The Times, Clarkson described the pre-Christmas chaos: "Behind the scenes, then, everything is a total disaster." He confessed to being "naive" about the ambitious venture, which reportedly cost him over £1million and is "losing a fortune".
Despite being aware of the widespread pub closures across the UK and the challenges of turning a profit, he optimistically thought "it would all be fine," only to concede, "I was wrong." Recounting a particularly gruesome episode in the pub's lavatories, he explained how the mess was so extensive that "no ordinary plumbing or cleaning equipment would even scratch the surface," leading to the hiring of a specialist hazmat team—a cost he never anticipated in his business plans, reports the Express.
