Jeff Bridges is opening up about his battle with cancer. On Tuesday (March 29), the 72-year-old actor appeared on a virtual panel to promote his upcoming FX series The Old Man, revealing he now feels “terrific” following his battle with lymphoma. In September 2021, he revealed that he was in remission. During the panel conversation, Jeff discussed his show’s production delays, with filming initially being shut down in March 2020 because of the COVID pandemic then again later that year when Jeff focused on his health. “As far as I’m concerned, FX and all of the team were so considerate and gave me all of the time I needed to heal and all the support I needed,” Jeff shared, via TheWrap.

He added, “The protocols — we were still in COVID — made me feel very safe and eager to get down to business and play.” In the The Old Man, Jeff plays a former CIA agent who is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. Jeff went on to explain how his cancer battle impacted how he played the role. “In times like that, it seems like all your philosophies and spirituality comes to you.

It tests you,” Jeff explained. “All of that has been made more mature by that experience,” he added. “I’ve always approached life the same way, [but this] made things sharper.”
