Police located the body, along with Jay's belongings and attire, on Monday, 15 July, following an extensive search. Now a post-mortem has sadly confirmed his family's worst fears.
A court spokesperson in Tenerife confirmed on Tuesday, 16 July that fingerprints confirmed Jay's identity.The injuries suggested he had fallen from a cliff, they added.
A representative for the Guardia Civil had indicated that all signs suggested the body was Jay's and it appears he had an unfortunate mishap in the hamlet where he was found.They had stated on Monday: "After 29 constant days of searching the lifeless body of the young man has been found in the Masca area.The discovery has been possible thanks to the tireless and discreet search carried out by the Civil Guard over these 29 days." "Everything is pointing to the body being that of the young British man who disappeared on June 17, pending full identification.
