Jason Derulo criticised for sampling TikTok beat by Jawsh 685 on his new song ‘without clearance’

The song in question is Laxed (Siren Beat) by Jawsh 685, real name Joshua Nanai, which Jason has sampled for his new song Savage Love.

The track had gone viral on TikTok after it featured on over 750,000 clips a day and gained over 43million views. Jawsh 685, is a 17-year-old musician from New Zealand whose original track had paid tribute to his Samoan and Cook Island heritage by referencing the calling code for Samoa (685) in the song.
