Janette Manrara has opened up about how leaving Strictly Come Dancing has made her marriage with Aljaz Skorjanec better.The couple, who married in 2017, signed up for the BBC show back in 2013 as new professionals and went on to become regular dancers on the floor.
After the 2020 series, Janette announced she had left the show to replace Zoe Ball on Strictly: It Takes Two.The following year, Aljaz, 32, also decided to step down from the programme and has since turned his focus onto acting.While both were sad to leave the dance floor behind, the 39-year-old gushed at how they now have more time together.She told The Mirror: "When he was doing Strictly, I would barely see him because we were on different schedules.Rod Stewart opens up on wife Penny Lancaster's 'blinding fits of rage'"It takes over your life so now I spend a lot more time with him, which is really nice."Now back working together on their A Christmas to Remember tour, Janette said it felt like they were “going back to square one” in their relationship.The pair met while being on a world wide tour with the Broadway show Burn The Floor before Strictly.Ahead of the show, there were times when they were at a long distance from each other.
Janette was based in her hometown Miami, while Aljaz also danced in his country Slovenia.After signing up for Strictly, they moved to London together.
While a part of the BBC competition, Aljaz won the Glitterball trophy in his first year with Abbey Clancy.Janette was close to winning with singer HRVY in 2020, but the series was won by Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse.
