Famed chef Jamie Oliver's recipe for a Christmas leftover toastie is just the thing to enjoy post-festivities. A clever way to use up all that remaining turkey and other holiday trimmings, it requires less than 15-minutes to prep but promises to fill you up nicely.
Whipping up this delightful dish in a YouTube clip, Jamie said: "We're going to have some fun with this and make it absolutely delicious." Teaming with Tesco, he then shared his easy-as-pie method that serves two.
Ingredients Four slices of bread 70g leftover cooked meat, such as turkey, ham, stuffing, or nut roast 60g Cheddar - could also use Red Leicester, Brie, Camembert, Stilton 120g cooked Brussels sprouts and carrots (or other vegetables) 20g softened butter Leftover gravy One tbsp cranberry sauce One apple 40g of watercress Two tsp olive oil One tsp red wine vinegar Method To start making this divine dish, finely chop up the vegetables and meat.Then grate the cheese on top of the chopped ingredients and combine together using your hands.
Spread cranberry sauce on one side of the bread slices to establish a "sweet flavour" and cover with the toastie filling.Then place the other slice of bread on top.
