Jamie Laing has hit back at critics who have labelled him as just a "posh boy", insisting that he's worked hard to secure his new Radio 1 role.The former Made In Chelsea star, 35, has recently taken over from presenter Jordan North, who has moved from the BBC to Capital FM.
Some listeners have since suggested that Jamie got the job because of his celebrity status rather than his talent. Jamie has defended himself against these claims, revealing that he's been aiming for the job for eight years and was previously rejected due to lack of experience.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Jamie said: "Sometimes from the outside and I do understand this, people think I just did Made In Chelsea and now I'm suddenly doing Radio 1, which is obviously not the case.
I have been gunning for this job for eight years. "I am posh. My parents sent me to a private school, I had no choice in that, they sent me there and it's the cross that I bear.
