Jamie Carragher believes the number of matches Manchester City still have to play compared to Arsenal could be their undoing during the Premier League title race.
Mikel Arteta's side only have eight more matches left to play this season after already exiting both domestic cup competitions and Europa League.
Comparatively, City will play nine more Premier League matches, plus a two-legged Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich and an FA Cup semi-final against Sheffield United.
If they reach the finals of both those competitions, that would mean 16 more matches, double Arsenal's amount. Carragher has suggested that manager Pep Guardiola rotating in the league ahead of crucial cup ties could be City's downfall. "We keep talking about the title; City can do the treble," Carragher said during Sky Sports' Super Sunday coverage. "There’s a great chance they’ll win the FA Cup final, and they’re favourites for the Champions League. "I think on the run-in, if they keep going, there will be one or two games that Pep Guardiola has got to think about winning the treble, and he’ll have to take a chance in a couple of league games with the team he picks.
