Director James Gunn and producer Peter Safran have been announced as the co-chairmen and CEOs of DC Studios, Warner Bros. Discovery announced TuesdayThe studio said that beginning November 1, the duo will work on a long-term game plan for the studio's DC Comics interests in film, TV and animation, in addition to working on solo ventures.Gunn, who has had successes such as the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise and The Suicide Squad, which Safran has been the producer on hits including Aquaman, Shazam and Flatliners.
Warner Bros. Discovery president and CEO David Zaslav said in a statement of Gunn and Safran: 'Their decades of experience in filmmaking, close ties to the creative community, and proven track record thrilling superhero fans around the globe make them uniquely qualified to develop a long-term strategy across film, TV, and animation, and take this iconic franchise to the next level of creative storytelling.'The unit known as DC Films was previously led by Walter Hamada over the past four years; Hamada left the position left week.
