Hibs ace Jake Doyle-Hayes had an operation on his ankle after a tackle from his manager Lee Johnson. The Irish midfielder (is on the verge of a return from the injury after undergoing surgery last month.
And MailSport understands it was a result of a challenge from Hibs boss Johnson. After the training game incident, Doyle-Hayes continued training for a week but was forced eventually to go under the knife due to a chipped bone in his ankle.
The former St Mirren midfielder is expected to be back next week, as he attempts to fight his way back into Johnson’s side. The 23-year-old has been a peripheral figure at Easter Road since the manager replaced Shaun Maloney in the summer.
Doyle-Hayes, signed by Jack Ross in 2021, last played on September 17 in a 3-1 win over Aberdeen and has struggled to nail down a place in Johnson’s starting line-up.
